Name

The WMOAS is based on and promotes the principles of consensus and cooperation.  Aggressive behavior toward other participants and excessive self-promotion are not tolerated.  Therefore, all participants in the 2026 WMOAS must pledge to:

Respect the diplomatic protocols of the Model at all times, including the use of proper language and communication. This includes any electronic communication.
Behave in a manner that is kind and respectful to all delegates, participants, elected officers, faculty advisors, and WMOAS officials and staff; that does not interfere with the smooth functioning of the Model; and that complies with the decisions of WMOAS authorities as final.
Refrain from any form of discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, race, country of origin, age, religion, physical limitation, or personal favoritism.

To ensure the appropriate formality and seriousness of the Model, along with its secure and orderly operation, participants must:

Be punctual and attend the sessions according to the schedule posted at www.wmoas.org. Delegates are expected to attend both Plenary sessions and every meeting of their Committees. All sessions will take place in person at Trinity Washington University and at the OAS Headquarters. Delegates who arrive late for sessions must be recognized by the committee chair to be afforded voice and vote in that session.
Follow professional etiquette: While in committee, delegates are in a professional meeting environment; no eating or smoking is permitted. Water is the only permitted beverage. Delegates must refrain from using electronic devices that interfere with the debate, and must avoid side conversations and multitasking.
Wear business attire: While in committee, delegates must wear acceptable dress. This means trousers (no jeans), business dresses/skirts, business shirts or blouses, and blazers/jackets for those who choose to wear business shirts and trousers. Attire should be clean, pressed and free of holes or stains. Faculty Advisors are responsible for enforcing the dress code.

To engage in professionally appropriate interactions with WMOAS officers and faculty, participants must:

Address all WMOAS faculty, officers, and staff with the courtesy and respect expected for professionals. Use the appropriate title (Mr., Mrs., Ms., or Dr.) and last name.
Conduct communications with WMOAS officers and faculty courteously and appropriately for a professional environment. The tone of chat messages, posts, emails, and conversations must be respectful.
Avoid “slang” and informal language that is inappropriate in a diplomatic environment.
Absolutely refrain from using obscene, profane, threatening, or disrespectful language or images in communications with any person associated with the WMOAS Model. Such use may lead to expulsion from the Model.

To engage in diplomatically appropriate interactions with Committee Members, participants must:

Be courteous and respectful in communications with other delegates in any engagement; also, communications should be related to the work of the WMOAS.
Adhere to principles of academic honesty. The integrity and authenticity of student work is monitored using a variety of technologies. Copying the work of others, allowing others to knowingly copy a student’s work, and/or misusing content from the internet could result in removal from the Model.

All participants must be aware of the grounds for suspension and/or expulsion from the WMOAS, and must accept the following policies:

If you see undiplomatic behavior in any format or think the welfare of others is being threatened by online activities, please notify faculty or member of the board of the Institute for Diplomatic Dialogue in the Americas.
By the decision of a majority of the IDDA Board, failure to observe the Code of Conduct will result in suspension or expulsion from the WMOAS, including the removal of the delegate’s credentials to access model locations.
Any comments, statements, post, chat messages, or actions which are discriminatory based on gender, sexual orientation, race, country of origin, age, religion, physical limitation, or favoritism will result in expulsion from the WMOAS.
Any interference with the smooth functioning of the Model will result in suspension, including the removal of the delegate’s credentials to access the WMOAS.
Educational institutions and their representatives will facilitate the suspension or expulsion of any student under their supervision for not observing the Code of Conduct.
